Playboy : Hosting A Virtual Art Gallery feat. NFT Collection

PLAYBOY x Slimesunday – “Liquid Summer” NFT collection

Playboy is known as a lifestyle and entertainment magazine formerly in print which is now available online. It features conversations of distinguished figures, artists, professionals in every field; It is also known as the centrefold of nudes and semi-nude photographs of models. The magazine shows a liberal editorial stance. Interestingly, Playboy is finally stepping into the crypto cosmos, participating in the NFT market. Last May 4, the brand hosted a virtual art gallery featuring its first digital art NFT collection by digital collage artist Slimesunday in partnership with Playboy‘s editorial curators dubbed “Liquid Summer”; all available at Decentraland metaverse.

Each of this digital art NFTs exhibits Playboy’s legacy of intriguing production. The masterpieces pivot on the juxtaposition of the past collection and future — combining Playboy‘s 70 plus years of legacy in being liberal together with crypto and the concept of NFT. Dave Carr of Decentraland mentioned that Playboy’s quite aligned with its creative edge. “Playboy has always been synonymous with innovation and pushing boundaries,” as quoted. 

Slimesunday mentioned in one interview that “My process has always involved scanning images from magazines, so when Playboy offered full access to their archive, everything really came full circle for me…Working with Executive Editor Liz Suman and the entire Playboy team has allowed me to get the full story behind each image in a deeper way than I normally would be able to.”
