Who is Jeffrey Lewis?

A remarkable comic-book artist/ singer-songwriter from the Lower East Side of New York City, Jeffrey Lewis. Lewis’ home recordings were discovered by Rough Trade Records in 2001 (famed label of The Smiths, The Strokes, Belle & Sebastian and more) while Lewis was briefly living in Austin, Texas. He has been into international tours where he, later on, built fans from around the world. As a Musician, he has significantly contributed to the antifolk movement. Having downbeat self-deprecating humor, with an off-kilter singing style, a combination of acoustic and punk songs featuring an everyday theme of feelings and occurrences. With several albums and collaborations, Lewis continues to create more this year. Simultaneously, he’s planning to write additional issues of his comic book series, mixing an album, writing and recording a new set of songs. From 1997 till present, Lewis continues to mesmerize the crowd with his great Album releases and Solos; here are a few on his list:

  • When Madman Was Good – Version One (1997)
  • The Last Time I Did Acid I Went Insane (Rough Trade, 2001)
  • 12 Crass Songs (Rough Trade, 2007)
  • Come On Board (Peter Stampfel & Jeffrey Lewis) (2011)
  • Manhattan (Rough Trade, 2015)
  • Bad Wiring (Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage) (2019)

  • “LPs” (2019)
  • “Exactly What Nobody Wanted” (2019)
  • “Keep it Chill! (in the East Vill)” (2020)

2020 didn’t slow down Lewis’ Creativity; thus, he produced music and launched his album “Bad Wiring, with tour dates added to everyone’s calendar. And also live gigs that continue to incorporate his narrative folk acoustics and indie-pop ones.

“One of the most extraordinary voices in contemporary music returns… for the euphoric and highly addictive Bad Wiring. Immediate, charming and perhaps the best delivery to date from one of the very most singular voices”

“A wordy force of nature… stirs you up with politics or knocks you sideways with sadness… ideas burst from Jeffrey Lewis like an overstuffed suitcase – strange ones, funny ones, poignant ones, usually a mixture…. kicking out ramshackle fuzzbomb jams… it’s difficult to imagine how any couple of hours spent in Lewis’s company couldn’t prove inspirational.”
