Times Square is a prolific commercial crossing, tourist hotspot, and center of entertainment, in the Midtown Manhattan section of New York City, located at the junction of Broadway and Seventh Avenue. It’s dazzling scenery is a result of the world’s biggest open advertising space brightly lit by jumbo sized billboards, LED screens, and lights. The illuminated environment makes a truly unique metropolitan site that is a must-see for anyone visiting the city for the first time.
Time Square is so iconic that it is sometimes referred to as “the Center of the Universe” or the “the Center of the World”. Apart from being one of the world’s busiest pedestrian areas, it is also the center of the BTD (Broadway Theater District) as well as a hub for numerous entertainment companies. For TV viewers around the world, Times Square became widely recognisable as the back-drop for the world famous TRL live show on MTV.
Times Square is one of the world’s hottest tourist spots, racking in as much as 50 million visitors annually, however due to the current global pandemic, the square is lacking what it truly made it special apart from its bright lights, and that is people. Tons and tons of people, tourists to be precise. Naturally, we decided to give you a glimpse of Time Square during the pandemic to show you what New York and New Yorkers have been going through recently, HOMELESS PENTHOUSE style.
